legalization of marijuana

why not? that's the real question. it's being used for medicinal purposes, it is better for your body than alcohol so whats the problem? if alcohol is legal then marijuana should be too. it has many benefits and more and more people are using it medicinally. it is extremely difficult to overdose so it won't be causing more deaths and there will be more room in prisons when all the people for possession leave. just as Robertson said in the article, its crazy that people who had a small amount are lead to doing bigger crimes because they end up in jail so they can't get back on their feet. i think it would eliminate a lot of problems if people were more open minded about it and actually look at the facts of what it does. it will probably be legalized sooner or later so why not now.

Vice Presidential Debate

Both vice presidents answered their questions thoughtfully although Ryan had it tough. Since Romney is on the fence about some issues, Ryan was not able to give a clear answer which kind of hurt him. Biden thoroughly answered the questions. the topic of religion and abortion especially stood out to me because Ryan said that what he believed was right so Pro-Life would be made into a law. Biden is catholic as well but said it didn't matter since everyone has different views and they should be able to choose. he can't decide for them, that's just not fair. i completely agree with Biden because a whole new set of issues come up with Ryan's choice. How do you determine if someone was raped? they could just say they were to have to abortion and there is really no way to prove it occurred if didn't occur. i think Biden won although it was pretty close.

Muslims torch Buddhist shrines

Why? What is the point in burning their place of worship? They are still going to believe in what they believe in so why waste the time? Buddhists are very calm and easy going people. there is no need to go and burn things down or chant mean sayings. Buddhists mind their own business and don't bother other religions. i think its ridiculous because all religions want peace and say that their "god" wants peace yet they all start trouble. all religions have been in some sort of conflict with others over which one is correct and why the other one is false. Just respect their decisions and live your own life. thats all i'm asking.

upcoming presidential debate

The first presidential debate is coming up fast. Several surveys taken indicate a tight race between Obama and Romney. I am not into politics that much so I can't say who I'd choose but i think both of them have good and bad qualities. Obama has already done a lot of great things and has tried to fix Bush's mistakes but we are still in a deep hole. I'm not sure if Romney would completely get us out especially since he has changed his views on some issues which makes me kind of wonder if he will keep his word in the future. Obama is very confident and tries his best even though the Senate is full of Republicans. Hopefully one of them will be able to get the economy back on track.

Aung San Suu Kyi

Aung San Suu Kyi has become a hero to Americans after she was awarded the Congressional gold medal of freedom. Many Americans aren't aware of what she has sacrificed through her fight for democracy in Burma. she has given up 15 years of her life on house arrest and was just released 2 years ago in 2010. She was arrested for being elected prime minister. her country doesn't allow women to hold these positions, resulting in her freedom being taken away. i think this is ridiculous. the world is changing and women are starting to have higher political power. Burma should realize this and join in, instead of holding on to their old ways. Suu Kyi has given up so much of her life to fight for what she believes in and she is someone who deserves admiration.
